
More security guards for a pumpkin than Switzerland’s president?
Beni Meier, a gardener from the canton of Zurich has grown the world’s largest pumpkin according to Jucker Farm where the pumpkin was weighed. At 953.5 kilograms it weighs as much as a small car. This pumkin is big enough to make 2,168 tins of pumpkin, which according to several American websites,would make enough pies to feed over 17,000 Thanksgiving diners.
The previous record holder, with a pumpkin weighing 922 kilograms, was Tim Mathison from Napa Valley in California, a region better known for a much smaller fruit: the grape.
NEWS FLASH: Beni grew an even larger pumpkin that was presented at a competition in Ludwigsburg in Germany. This pumpkin weighed 1,054 kilograms, and became the world’s largest.
