On 8 September 2021, the Swiss government decided to extend the use of Covid certificates. From Monday 13 September 2021, a certificate will be required to enter bars, restaurants, museums, cinemas, theatres and pools, a system already operating in numerous countries, such as Italy.
The decision comes on a day when the health authorities announced the highest number of new daily cases in several months (3,550).
As we head towards winter, the government is concerned the number of infections will rise again and put further pressure on the health system. As the number of Covid patients rises, treatment of some non-Covid patients is being put on hold and patients are being moved around to find hospital places for them, said Alain Berset, Switzerland’s health minister.
In an interview on RTS, the health minister expressed a sense of frustration at the high number of unvaccinated people in Switzerland. The overwhelming majority of Covid-19 patients in hospital are unvaccinated. Given this reality, Berset said that the certificate is the solution to getting back our liberties. It makes it possible for events and activities to go ahead that would otherwise be too risky. The use of the certificate means people will only come into contact with others who only have a low risk of being infectious.
Those in establishments or at events without a certificate where one is required can be fined CHF 100. Establishments and event organisers that don’t follow the rules can be fined and closed down.
Currently, 2.5 million people over the age of 12 in Switzerland remain unvaccinated. Switzerland currently has one of the lowest rates of vaccination and one of the highest rates of new infections in Europe.
52% of Switzerland is fully vaccinated compared to 59% across the EU, 64% in the UK, 62% in France, 61% in Germany and 62% in Italy. In western Europe, only the UK has a higher rate of new cases than Switzerland.
In addition to extending the use of Covid certificates the government is looking at plans to require unvaccinated people to test and quarantine when returning to or entering Switzerland. It plans to announce its decision on 14 September 2021 ahead of the autumn holidays.
Spontaneous protests took place in Bern in response to the decision, according to RTS. Some of those objecting see the move as a way to make vaccination compulsory via the back door.

I am a Swiss national but have lived in England for 55years. I have been vaccinated twice – I did not get a choice of vaccine and I received Astra Zeneca. My Husband got the Pfizer. We are planning to come to Switzerland at Xmas to spend time in our property there. How can it be possible that I am not allowed into a Restaurant because I have been vaccinated with Astra Zeneca but my Husband can. I find this extremely unbelievably unfair. Can you explain!!

It looks like you can both get a Swiss Covid certificate. On Friday, the Swiss government announced that anyone in Switzerland, including visitors, can contact the relevant cantonal authority and get a Swiss Covid certificate if they can provide proof of vaccination with a vaccine authorised by the European Medicines Agency (EMA): https://lenews.ch/2021/09/17/entry-into-switzerland-more-difficult-from-20-september/ Both the AZ and Pfizer vaccines are on the EMA’s list: https://www.ema.europa.eu/en/human-regulatory/overview/public-health-threats/coronavirus-disease-covid-19/treatments-vaccines/vaccines-covid-19/covid-19-vaccines-authorised#authorised-covid-19-vaccines-section

Instead of getting frustrated, Governments everywhere should restrict the freedom of non-vaccinated people – no job, no benefits, no public transport, no trips abroad, no shops, no bars/restaurants/clubs inside or out, etc, etc. And fine them 100chf a day until they get vaccinated. The only way to beat this virus is to be hard on those who only think about themselves. I’m fully vaccinated and had no side effects.

You are very lucky to not have suffered any side effects. According to the British government Yellow card reports there have been millions with severe side effects with over 1600 deaths.

The numbers in the link are significantly different the stated NHS source. The NHS reports 72 death reports coinciding with the vaccination of 48 million people. The link above shows 1,612 deaths. In addition, here are some quotes from the NHS source data referred to on the link you shared:
“All vaccines and medicines have some side effects. These side effects need to be continuously balanced against the expected benefits in preventing illness.”
“For all COVID-19 vaccines, the overwhelming majority of reports relate to injection-site reactions (sore arm for example) and generalised symptoms such as ‘flu-like’ illness, headache, chills, fatigue (tiredness), nausea (feeling sick), fever, dizziness, weakness, aching muscles, and rapid heartbeat. Generally, these happen shortly after the vaccination and are not associated with more serious or lasting illness.”
“It is very important to note that a Yellow Card report does not necessarily mean the vaccine caused that reaction or event. Many suspected adverse reactions reported on a Yellow Card do not have any relation to the vaccine or medicine and it is often coincidental that they both occurred around the same time. The reports are continually reviewed to detect possible new side effects that may require regulatory action, and to differentiate these from things that would have happened regardless of the vaccine or medicine being administered, for instance due to underlying or undiagnosed illness.”

All I can say to you is that I hope you don’t succumb to any future unknown side effects. These injections have not yet been licenced and are still being trialled until 2023. Future side effects are unknown. I have a question for you: Do you know the ingredients of these so-called vaccines? We are supposed to be given that information as well as potential serious side effects. It’s called informed consent.
