A survey published by Switzerland’s Federal Statistical Office in February 2019 shows how Swiss regard the role and attitude of foreigners towards Swiss institutions.
Foreigners are considered by most (64%) as necessary for the proper functioning of the economy and needed to finance social security. It is also felt they do work others won’t do (66%). At the same time nearly half (47%) think foreigners abuse the social security system.
However, only a minority feel foreigners increase unemployment (28%), prevent Swiss kids from getting a good education (28%) or make them feel unsafe on the streets (28%).
A total of 3,127 people were questioned for the survey.
