Tribune de Genève.
Neighbouring residents of the French communes of Chens-sur-Léman, Messery and Nernier had their pleas for aircraft noise reduction rejected by the Swiss Federal Tribunal. Resident groups have been fighting for years to have the landing flight path into Geneva airport moved so it is over the lake instead of above their homes. Early morning flights start at 6am and the noise, measured by the European Aircraft Services, is sufficient to wake someone sleeping. The Federal Tribunal said that passenger safety was central to its decision to reject flight path changes. This decision is the same as an earlier one made by the Federal Office of Civil Aviation.
