Recently published statistics suggest most Swiss prefer home grown animal products.

Three quarters (75%) of those surveyed said they preferred Swiss eggs and more than half preferred Swiss meat (51%) and dairy products (59%).
Reasons for preferring local animal products were to support local farmers (nearly 25%), low food miles (15%) and product quality (15%).
40% considered Swiss agriculture to be trustworthy and 33% thought it was customer centred.
However, only 15% were convinced it was competitive and only 22% unequivocally thought it respected the environment. The percentage strongly agreeing that Swiss produce respected the environment fell 11 points from 33% to 22%.
The survey, done by Demoscope in January 2019, was based on 1,006 responses.

It remains a fact that Swiss people ARE enjoying their own produce because Supermarkets are selling these on a daily basis. Switzerland is recognized everywhere as a leading dairy country. This subject surrounds the question of trade with neighbouring countries and most of them import from Switzerland. It becomes the norm that this is a two-way business and we have the choice on what we buy and where it comes from. It is always a pleasure however to find little farms sprouting up all around us where we can easily park and enjoy selecting Swiss produced farm products. The choce is ours.
