According to the airline Powdair, Brexit and the collapse of several airline operators – Monarch, Air Berlin and Darwin – caused their key investor to get cold feet and pull out. This happened last week.
Richard Corbett, a member of the european parliament says falling back on old pre-EU aviation agreements after Brexit would only allow a restricted number of airlines to fly into or out of London airports only. UK-based airlines would not be allowed to fly point to point within the EU.
Despite this uncertainty, Powdair says it now has a new investor, subject to successful due diligence.
This financial hiccup means their will be no flights this season.
The company says it will automatically refund all tickets and hopes to be up and running sometime next year.
