The driving forces behind these enormous fortunes are typically, brands that have gone global like Mars, Zara or Nutella, technology business that benefit from network effects that give them a natural advantage over competitors, for example Microsoft, Facebook and Google, or the buying and selling of assets, sometimes kick started with inheritance or a fortunate deal.
