A new international train network, known as the Léman Express, is set to launch on 15 December 2019.
Eight years in the making, the new rail network connects the Swiss cantons of Vaud and Geneva with neighbouring France.
40 new trains running on 6 new train lines will link 45 train stations across the region. Swiss Rail and French TGV Lyria and TER Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes trains will be timed to connect with the new network.
It will soon be possible to get from Geneva to the French town of Annemasse in 22 minutes, and from Lausanne to Annemasse in 1 hour and 19 minutes.
The network diagram above shows the connections.

JOYPATTINSON says
How is it possible there is such a differance in time between a trip to Annemasse from Geneva and one from Lausanne? Surely the problem of timing must occur between a train from Lausanne to Geneva? They are surely more frequent than those which would connect so badly! This also brings into question when there will be a connection across the Lac Leman from one side of Geneva to the other, both being in the same country and not international. The traffic in and around Geneva at crucial times is a total disgrace.

It’s possible the Annemasse trains are timed to connect with the RE (RegioExpress) trains, which make 7 stops between Lausanne and Geneva. These trains take 49 minutes to get from Lausanne to Geneva. That would mean 49 minutes to Geneva, 8 minutes to connect and then 19 minutes to Annemasse.
