June temperature records were broken at 27 locations in Switzerland today according to Meteo Swiss.
Many locations reached temperatures of over 35 degrees. Sion (35.8), Wynau (35.8), Zurich (35.5) and Basel (35.3) led the way. Geneva (33.4) and Lausanne (30.4) were slightly less scorching.
High altitude locations were not all spared. The temperature in the Alpine resort of Crans Montana reached 30.4 degrees.
The highest ever recorded temperature in Switzerland (41.5) occurred on 11 August 2003 in Grono in Graubunden.
Temperatures tomorrow are expected to be higher than today in many places. Expected highs tomorrow in Geneva (34), Bern (35), Basel (37) and Lausanne (34) are all above today’s highs. Zurich is expected to reach 35.
