62% of men and 44% of women had used the internet to find a partner. 48% of men and 43% of women found someone this way.
93% used contraception the first time they had sex, with 84% using traditional condoms. Over time condom use fell to 54%, while use of the contraceptive pill rose to 45%. Around 10% had a sexually transmitted disease.
Women were far more likely to have had sex without really wanting it (53%) than men (23%), most often in order to maintain a good relationship with their partner.
16% of the women surveyed said they’d been victims of sexual abuse or rape, compared to less than 3% of men.
