Various bans related to fireworks are in place across Switzerland in the lead up to national day festivities on 1 August.
Some regions have banned private firework displays, some have banned sales, other could ban all displays.
For example, the commune of Chur has banned all fireworks including public displays, according to Tribune de Genève.
The last time serious restrictions were imposed was in 2010. It is important to check commune websites to find out what restrictions are in place before lighting fireworks.
Some large retailers, such as Coop and Migros stopped selling fireworks at the end of last week. In addition, Swiss customs are keeping an eye out for those trying to import them.
