Three of the top ten most mentioned wintery locations on Instagram are Swiss.

Focus Clinics, an eye surgery in London which counts Queen guitarist Brian May among its customers, ran a list of 70 wintery travel destinations through an Instagram search to identify the most photographed.
Grindelwald scored 10th, Zermatt was 6th and Bern 1st.
Bern was the clear the leader. While #grindelwald was used more than 150,000 times on Instagram, and #zermatt more than 400,000 times, neither came close to #bern, which was hash tagged over 1.1 million times. Nearby Chamonix came in 5th – #chamonix featured on more than 600,000 occasions. #bern’s result will have been boosted by it being a canton as well as a city.
Four of the top ten most photogenic wintery sights could be covered in a train journey from Zurich to Geneva.
Zurich – Grindelwald (2 hours 40)
Grindelwald – Bern (1 hour 40)
Bern – Zermatt (2 hours 20) – via the Lötschberg tunnel
Zermatt – Chamonix (4 hours)
Chamonix – Geneva (3 hours)
Too much for a single day, this ground could be covered more comfortably in three days with two overnight stops along the way.
