Overall Switzerland’s divorce numbers were up 2.1% at 16,200 for the year.
However, when broken down the number of divorces among couples where both were Swiss went down 6.1% as did those where one was Swiss (-0.9%). Divorces among couples in Switzerland where both were foreign nationals however rose by 23.4%.
The average length of marriage at the time of divorce remained stable at 15 years.
If Switzerland’s divorce rate remained the same as it was in 2018, 39.5% of all mariages in would end in divorce.
