A woman from Lausanne, who joined the so-called Islamic State, wants to return to Switzerland, according to the Swiss broadcaster RTS.
The woman, currently held in a prison camp in Syria, joined the organization four years ago with her husband.
Switzerland’s government has not yet decided whether the woman and her one and a half year old daughter, who was born abroad, will be allowed to enter Switzerland.
According to RTS the woman is not alone. Four other Swiss are in the same situation.
The woman’s sister, who is in Switzerland, told RTS she is concerned about her sister’s and niece’s welfare in the camp where there have been reports of cold temperatures, particularly at night.
In an article last year, RTS said Kurdish forces in Syria had called on more than 40 countries to repatriate citizens suspected of joining Islamic State.
