This summer some of Switzerland’s mountain passes will be temporarily closed to cars. This will allow cyclists to ride more safely and breathe more easily.
The passes will be closed to cars over a series of weekends for an event called Coop Ride the Alps.
Other passes in the event include the Gotthard, Furka, Nefenen, Les Mosses and Pillon passes. The final stage is at the Pragel pass (1,550m) in Glarus.
The ten part cycling series runs from 26 May to 23 September 2018. A list of dates and stages can be viewed here.
The event is open to amateur cyclists of all levels. Entry is free.
