This week, things took a turn for the worse for Tariq Ramadan.
According to a report by Swiss broadcaster RTS, a witness contradicted an alibi given by the Swiss muslim academic.
One of his accusers claims she was raped in Lyon during the afternoon of 9 October 2009.
In opposition to this claim, Tariq Ramadan’s lawyers produced a document referring to a plane ticket with an arrival time in Lyon of 18:35 on that date.
Last week, a witness said that he and a colleague had gone to Lyon’s Saint-Exupéry airport to collect him and had met him at around 11:35 – 11:40 a.m. inside the airport, according to one of the investigators. The witness said that they then dropped Ramadan at around 12:15 p.m. at the Hilton hotel where the accuser claims she was assaulted.
