Swiss Meteo warns of heavy snow tomorrow in the region stretching from Aigle, in Vaud, through to the region around the Grand St. Bernard pass in the canton of Valais. Snow of between 40 cm to 70 cm is expected above 800 m. The affected region includes the Swiss ski resorts of Leysin, Villars, Torgon, Morgin and La Fouly.
The neighbouring regions of Jura, Neuchâtel, Vaud and Geneva should expect winds up to 90 km/h. Winds are also expected in the east from St. Gallen, and the regions stretching westward towards Innertkirchen-Guttannen, and in much of Ticino.
The snow hazard warning is level 3. The hazard scale ranges from 1 to 5. Level 3 is described as a significant hazard. The effects are described as a worsening of road conditions, disruption to air and rail travel, and branches breaking due to snow load.
