Today, members of the group Les Gilets Jaunes came from France to protest outside the United Nations.
Geneva police gave the group, expected by organizers to be around 5,000, a permit to assemble in La Place des Nations outside the United Nations in Geneva until midday.
A report by RTS said the police put the number of protesters at 600 and that no incidents were reported.
Some in the group expressed their discontent at the violence some protesters have experienced from French police, a message directed at the United Nations Human Rights Council. One protester said the group wanted a simple statement of condemnation from the organisation rather than an international investigation.
Several days ago French police were violently attacked by Gilets Jaunes protesters in the French city of Lyon, according to video footage relayed by Euronews.
According to RTS, some protest organisers met with United Nations representatives.
