The international hot air balloon festival starts at Chateau d’Oex this Saturday, 21 January 2017. 70 pilots and their teams will converge on the pre-Alpine town in Vaud for the 39th edition of the festival.
For nine days pilotes from 15 countries will take to the mountain sky. Special displays will be staged this and next weekend, involving balloons, parachutes, para gliders and aerobatic aircraft.
Wednesday afternoon is dedicated to children.
This year will see the night time light display on Friday 27 January, after several years without it. If the weather is poor the light show could be moved to Saturday the 28th.
