According to Meteo Suisse temperatures are set to drop by around 10 degrees across nearly all of Switzerland tomorrow. Today’s forecast high in Geneva is 33 degrees. Tomorrow the high is expected to reach only 22 degrees. Zurich is similar: 32 degrees today and 24 degrees tomorrow. By Saturday everywhere north of the Alps is expected to be below 20 degrees. Rain is predicted along with the sharp drop in temperature.
This could be the end of the second hottest summer in 152 years.
According to Meteo Suisse average summer temperatures this year were 2.4 degrees higher than those recorded between 1981 and 2010. The only summer hotter than 2015’s was 2003’s, which was on average 1.0 degree hotter than this year’s summer.
This year French-speaking Switzerland, Ticino and Engadine experienced their hottest July since weather records began 152 years ago.
