In any case it appears the quake was centred in either Schwyz or neighbouring Glarus – Ortstock (Schwyz) and Linthal (Glarus) are not far from each other. In the tweet the service said that minor damage was likely.
According to the newspaper Le Matin, a shake of this magnitude occurs every three years.
Around 20 to 30 calls were received by the local police from concerned residents in the neighbouring canton of Schwyz, according to ATS. In the canton of Glarus, the police received around ten calls.
No significant damage was reported.
Last year a quake of a similar magnitude (4.1) was recorded in Leukerbad in Valais, Switzerland.
