According to the BBC, David Cameron‘s Conservative party has won the largest share of the votes and a controlling majority.
The Tories (Conservatives) won 331 seats compared to Labour’s 232, giving David Cameron’s party a clear majority in the UK’s 650 seat parliament.
The Liberal Democrats took 8, the Scottish National Party (SNP) 56, UKIP 1 and the Green Party 1.
The Conservatives gained 25 seats compared to the last election. The Lib Dems on the other hand are down by a staggering 49 seats. 56 seats for SNP means that they have won all but 3 Scottish seats, a gain made largely at the expense of Labour.
The far right UKIP party came third on overall vote count but only secured 1 parliamentary seat. The UKIP leader Nigel Farage failed to secure his seat, losing to the Conservative member.
The Monster Raving Looney Party, which would like to see unicorns protected and hop, skip, and jump years added alongside leap years saw no change: 0 seats.
